My entrepreneurial idea

My entrepreneurial idea is to develop a parking navigation system. As we know, since New York supplies a lot of office buildings such as American express and the world trade district, there is always competition for parking, many new Yorkers have the same problem every day. And there are many parking lots that over charge these New Yorkers or commuters and get away with it. The parking issue not only causes inconvenient for the drivers, but also plays a big role in the city traffics, and it's harmful to the environment as well in the way the drivers may have to travel around to find parking spaces and thus produce more pollution gases. My parking navigation system will be a solution to the problems. This system would help direct drivers to open parking spaces without hassle and ease city traffics.

Basically, the navigation system is built upon computer-based and it will be connected to internet as well. First of all, the system will need a control center where all the information go in and out. In the center we will need a mainframe which is a large and power computer that can handle hundreds or thousands of connected users simultaneously to handle the information from the users.  Besides the mainframe, we will have client-side products which would be like a mobile device that can connect to the network of the system.

This idea is still in the very early stage of development. I don’t have a completely idea about how it will work, but roughly, i think i will utilize the social network as part of my system. I believe the instant social network will be helpful in the operation of this system, which i have an idea that users can use their social network account to log in the system and the update of the users would be the possible sources of information about the parking spaces. Moreover, I'm thinking about building the device into cars like how the GPS devices were embedded into cars. And information would be updated into the cloud and all the cars that have the device build in would get access to the information of the system.

  1. Parking in any major city is a really big hassle. I think you could make this into a smartphone app that could tie into the phones GPS and perhaps even just be an overlay on google maps helping people navigate to the best parking area. You could integrate a system similar to trapster where people could tag places where they see parking spots similar to how in trapster people tag when they see radar traps.

  2. This is really a great idea. Actually, not only in New York, bad traffic and terrible parking situation is a huge challenge for most big cities all around the world.
Take Beijing for example. I came from Beijing, a big city in China, the traffic there is so bad that people are all afraid of driving their own cars. Parking is the most important problem that lingering each and every driver in Beijing. I think such an idea will also be able to improve the parking situation in Beijing.
And I also agree to the idea that making applications for smart phones to receive the "parking guide" generated by this system will be a great idea.
Again, great idea. Good luck! : )

  3. I think that this is a great idea and it could be used in many big cities around the country and like Zhu Qizheng said, maybe even in other cities around the world. I think that you could also incorporate a way for people to pay for parking at specific lots through the app. I think that you could have this feature incorporated into a lot of apps that are already made like the maps apps that come standard on many phones already. Great idea!

  4. This is a really good idea, especially in a big city like New York. I like how you are concerned about the environment because I think that a lot of people are forgetting about this aspect when they are developing their ideas. I think that it would be very convenient to have these systems built into the cars. I know you are in the early stage but you should think bout how this will work and it will probably have to keep refreshing because some parking spots may be taken by the time the person gets to the spot. But overall I really like this idea and I think it would help a lot!!

  5. For me I think it is a good idea; I think the only problem now is the idea you come up with is more like a GPS which shows the driver where is the parking place and if there is any free place left. I think you can try to make it more smart. Because all the users are connected to the mainframe so every single device can get information from other devices; so here is the situation: when one car which has the device leave the parking area close to you, your device will then give you the navigation spontaneously rather than it just work when you just ask it to do so
